She Gets an "A" in Our Book

This amazing video was created by ten year old Erin Crimmins from Pennsylvania who has been been coming to the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo for over five years when she visits her grandparents in Pensacola. She has made many fond memories here, and was recently inspired to make a video about our zoo. We were so impressed we just had to share!

Her gifted class assignment for the summer was to make up an itinerary for the perfect vacation. Since she was planning to visit her grandparents, and knew that she'd be coming to our zoo again, she included a day at the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo on the "itinerary". For extra credit, she made this video about our zoo. Needless to say, she got an "A"!

Erin came to the zoo ready to shoot, video, and take notes. She met with Zoo Director, Patti Hall and was very impressed with the zoo's recovery from Hurricanes Ivan and Katrina. Next, she spent some time with head zookeeper, Cyndi Johnson, who share with her all the ways that our zoo educates guests and groups about animals and animal enrichment.

Erin got up close and personal with our animals that day and did all the animal encounters with the baby lemurs, baby kangaroos, baby tigers, and even the baby serval cats! When asked about her favorite part of the day, she said, "The time I spent with Patti & Cyndi. They taught me so much and I loved getting so close to the animals." She is looking forward to visiting our new all green zoo next year.

Great work, Erin! Thanks so much for making us a part of your project!
