Welcome to the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, Home of Animal Planet's The Little Zoo That Could

Gulf Coast Snowbird Clubs

The Gulf Coast Snowbird Clubs are no stranger to our Little Zoo. They have been visiting our area since the early 1970's and have always supported the well being of our little zoo!

The Men's Club

LCB 2012The Men's Club hold weekly "Coffee Club Meetings" at Villagio in Orange Beach. Once a month they have a breakfast meeting at LuLu's with their wives where they bring the season to a close and have drawings and prizes throughout the morning.

Several years ago, Alice Bryan of Illinois, who has been coming to Gulf Shores for over 16 years, donated a hand knit afghan as a prize but it was decided that it was too nice for a "give away". The club decided to sell raffle tickets for the afghan at each meeting and one winner would be drawn at the last meeting of the year. The proceeds of the raffle would then be donated to our zoo.

Patti attends the last breakfast at LuLu's for this final drawing and to present the winner with another one of Alice's beautiful handmade afghans.

We cannot thank these folks enough for all of their efforts to help our zoo!

Wisconsin Snowbirds

LCB 2012The Wisconsin Snowbirds are over 700 members strong with many who have been visiting the Gulf Coast since the late 70's!

They don't just visit, they make a difference while they are here by volunteering as mentors and tutors with local schools, raising funds for local charities, and have always supported the well being of our "little zoo".

Each year they raise money for our zoo by organizing a Zoo Fun Day for their members. The price of their ticket includes a day at the zoo with a pulled pork lunch with all the fixin's and a chance to visit with each other. We have our keepers roaming with friendly animal greetings and top things off with an interactive and educational show featuring some of our favorite animals.

This year Chairman of the Club, Kenn Krouse, presented the zoo with a check for more than $890! Over the last several years, they have donated over $9,450! Thank you to each and every one of your for all of your support!
