Mikee's 25th Anniversary Celebration!

General Manager, E.J. Spence, presents Patti and Cyndi (with Caesar!) a check for $2,250.00!
January 23rd was a big day for Eddie Spence and Mikee's Seafood of Gulf Shores, marking 25 years of serving seafood to hungry beach goers on the Gulf Coast. As a way of giving back, they decided to offer their fabulous food at just 25 cents a plate!
To help celebrate, we also offered a special admission price to the zoo for that day - just 25 cents per person! Over 400 visitors came in to visit for a quarter, with lots of families heading right over to Mikee's for Po' Boy's afterwards!
That evening during the festivities, they held a silent auction with all proceeds benefitting the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo. We were on hand to stroll through the crowds with our furry friends, too! The turnout was amazing - over 1,500 people - and the line spilled out the door all afternoon and evening!

Wacky Wonderful Women!
Recently, Patti was presented with not only a donation for the zoo, but a medal from the Redneck Riviera Chapter of the Wacky Wonderful Women, a group dedicated to raising funds for the fight against cancer.
This past fall, they hosted the “2011 Making a Difference Walk/Run” and raised over $30,000 dollars! While the majority of the proceeds benefitted the American Cancer Society, a special donation was made to the zoo and honored Patti for her commitment to its growth and survival.
Lisa Moore presents Patti with a medal and a generous donation.
